Track-ready limited edition 86 gets big Brembo brakes and Sachs dampers.
Toyota Australia have just revealed a new limited edition model aimed at track enthusiasts.
Limited to just 60 units Down Under, the special limited edition 86 is based on the top-grade Toyota 86 GTS manual variant and will be priced at $41,490 – which is $4,550 more expensive than the base car.
Before we give you any more details, let’s address the elephant in the room – does it have a turbo? The answer to that question is, unfortunately, no.
Nevertheless, the limited edition 86 comes with larger Brembo performance brakes that measure 326mm at the front and 316mm at the rear – up from 294mm and 290mm respectively. Specially tuned Sachs performance dampers add to the lightweight sports car’s renowned responsiveness and stability, according to Toyota.
Perhaps the most striking aspect of the limited-run model is its Solar Orange metallic exterior paint, which helps distinguish it from its more regular siblings. In addition, the rear spoiler and door mirror housings have a metallic black finish.
New 10-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels finished in anthracite complete the external look.
In the engine department, the limited edition 86 boasts a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which is unchanged from the standard car, making 152kW at 7000rpm and 212Nm at 6400-6800rpm.
On the inside, the 86 limited edition gets leather-accented front sports seats with perforated Alcantara inserts and contrasting orange stitching. This trim also appears on the steering wheel, gear knob, handbrake and door trims.
Speaking about the limited edition 86, Tony Cramb, Toyota Australia executive director, said: “Whether driven on the open road or on the track, the combination of beefier brakes and uprated suspension involving two renowned performance brands is designed to further distinguish Toyota’s lightweight coupe as an authentic driver’s car.”
