Honda has launched a Red Edition pack for the Civic to celebrate the arrival of its sportier big brother, the Civic Type-R.
To celebrate the arrival of its Civic Type-R in Australia last week, Honda has announced a sporty ‘Red Edition’ of its popular Civic hatchback.
Available in four different trim levels: VTi, VTi-S, VTi-L and VTi-LX, the Civic Red Edition package costs an additional $2,498 (fitted). It will also be limited to just 228 units – the kiloWatt output of the new Civic Type R.
The Red Edition pack comprises four 17-inch black alloy wheels, a red front under spoiler, red rear under spoiler, red side skirts and Red Edition floor mats.
However, Honda says that the VTi and VTi-S models will incur an additional cost due to the fact they need larger tyres to go with the bigger wheels.
The Red Edition will be available in four colours: White Orchid Pearlescent, Lunar Silver Metallic, Sonic Grey Pearlescent and Crystal Black Pearlescent.
Stephen Collins, director of Honda Australia, said a limited number of Red Edition vehicles were secured to coincide with the Civic Type R’s arrival.
“Customers love the boldness of the Honda Civic sedan and hatch and the eye-catching Red Edition is an attention-grabbing styling statement for Civic customers looking to add some individuality to their cars,” he said.
Honda says that 495 Civic Type-Rs are expected to land in Australia this year, which will be used to satisfy the 420 orders it already has. A further 6,500 people have “registered interest”.
