Australian Pricing, Features List Announced for 2017 Subaru Impreza

The all-new 2017 Impreza is the first Subaru model to feature the company’s new Global Platform, and Australian buyers can get their hands on four distinct variants.

Subaru’s all-new 2017 Impreza will go on sale in Australia this week following a pre-sales campaign that began back in October.

The new Impreza is the first model to be released featuring the brand’s new Global Platform, which will underpin the entire Subaru range going forward.

Australian buyers will get a choice of four variants: the Impreza 2.0i; Impreza 2.0i-L; Impreza 2.0i Premium; and range-topping Impreza 2.0i-S.

The Impreza 2.0i comes with a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also boasts cruise control; cloth seat trim; a multi-function steering wheel; single-zone climate control; and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Next up is the Impreza 2.0i-L, which features a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen; dual-zone climate control; a leather-wrapped steering wheel; premium cloth trim and gearshift; an upgraded trip computer display; tyre pressure monitoring; front fog and daytime running lights, and Subaru’s EyeSight driver assist system.

The Impreza 2.0i Premium has got everything its 2.0i-L sibling has, but features a powered sunroof and factory-fitted satellite navigation.

At the top of the range is the Impreza 2.0i-S. It comes with a load of seat goodies, such as heated front seats; leather seat trim; and a powered driver’s seat.

There are also rain-sensing wipers; automatic LED headlights; Active Torque Vectoring; 18-inch alloy wheels; side skirts; and an upgraded safety package, which includes lane change assist; blind spot monitoring; and rear cross traffic alert.

Regardless of model, buyers will get a 2.0-litre, horizontally opposed four-cylinder petrol engine which produces 115kW and 196Nm. This drives Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel drive system via a CVT automatic transmission with seven-stepped ratios.

Fuel efficiency has been boosted with automatic stop-start; active grille shutters; and an aluminium bonnet, all of which help the Impreza achieve between 6.6 and 7.2l/100km.

The hatchback version features a roomy 340-litre boot, while the sedan’s boot offers even more space at 460-litres.

All models have a raft of standard safety features, including a rearview camera; seven airbags; whiplash reducing seats; electronic and stability control; front seatbelt pre-tensioners; and rear ISOFIX child seat mounting points.

Pricing is as follows:

  • 2.0i sedan $22,400
  • 2.0i hatch $22,600
