Honda Civic Hatchback to Make Paris Debut Later this Month
Honda has released a teaser image of its all-new Civic hatchback ahead of the car’s official global debut in Paris. But why when we’ve already seen the car unveiled in America?
What you can see above is the first official teaser image of the forthcoming Honda Civic hatchback, which will get its official debut at the Paris Motor Show later this month.
However, some of you may be wondering why a car manufacturer would release a “teaser image” when said vehicle has already been unveiled.
While the European version of the Civic will indeed get its debut in Paris, the US-version had its veil lifted about a month ago, and they’re basically carbon copies of each other.
Of course, there are a few adjustments to satisfy European laws, but apart from these minor differences, the Civic will be the same regardless of which country you purchase it in.
Nevertheless, the Paris Motor Show will still provide the first opportunity to see the 10th-generation Civic in the metal and see whether the exterior styling and interior design justify the car’s lengthy gestation period.
In Europe, the Civic will come with either a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol; 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol; or a 1.6-litre turbo diesel. Here in Australia we can expect a choice of a 1.8 litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder or more powerful 1.5 litre turbo.
Interestingly, the new Australian Civic will come from the same factory in Thailand as its Sedan cousin, and not from the UK like the previous Civic hatch.
It’s the range-topping turbocharged 2.0-litre Civic Type R, though, which will be launched in Australia mid-2017, that hot hatch fans will be anticipating the most. This performance-oriented is rumoured to be hiding almost 350 horses under its bonnet and promises (somehow) to be both the most aggressive and most restrained Type-R yet.
There are also rumours that a Civic Type-R concept that very closely resembles the production model will be on display at the Paris Motor Show, but we’ll have to wait and see if this transpires.
