Nissan 370Z NISMO to go on sale next month
Great news for Australian NISMO fans as Nissan adds a second car to its performance-oriented lineup, but don’t expect a roadster version.
The Nissan 370Z NISMO will go on sale in Australia at the end of August this year, taking the total number of NISMO offerings available Down Under to two.
In contrast to the super-limited GT-R NISMO that launched here at the start of the year and costs a cool $299,000, the 370Z NISMO is expected to be more affordable, with an estimated price tag of between $65,000 and $70,000, which will help overcome the barrier associated with owning its GT-R counterpart.
The existing 370Z coupe manual retails for $56,930, so people interested in the NISMO version can expect to pay a premium of around $10,000 for the privilege of owning one.
While exact technical specifications are still unknown, we can speculate that the 370Z NISMO released in Australia will be pretty similar to its European cousin. So that means it will feature a NISMO body kit and interior, 19-inch RAYS alloy wheels and upgrades brakes, suspension and chassis rigidity.
When it comes to power, the 370Z NISMO will almost certainly boast a Nismo-tuned version of the standard car’s 3.7-litre naturally-aspirated V6 – which produces 257kW of power – coupled to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic gearbox.
We do have some bad news for NISMO fans who like to feel the wind rushing through their hair. That’s because it will only be the 370Z coupe that will receive the NISMO treatment and not its roadster cousin.
Nissan has always promised that its NISMO range in Australia will comprise three models, but with the Juke NISMO RS off the cards due to Australian Design Rule issues, it’s anyone’s guess what the third car in the lineup will be.
