Nissan’s Nismo Mashups are Simply Awesome
Is this a sign of things to come or are Nissan just toying with us with their latest Nismo mashup images? Let’s hope it’s the former as these Nismo sedans are downright awesome.
It seems that Nissan like to let their hair down from time to time and have a little fun. They recently revealed some rather intriguing renderings that combine styling elements from two of their Nismo models with two sedans that will probably never see a Nismo makeover in their lifetimes.
The results, however, are surprisingly awesome and the reaction across social media suggests that Nissan could probably shift a good number of these ‘hybrids’ if they ever did become a reality.
The images first surfaced on the Japanese car giant’s USA Facebook page using the hashtag #NISMOmashup but are they tongue-in-cheek fun or subtle hints as to what could be on the horizon?
Unfortunately, Nissan accompanied all the images with a rather heart-breaking disclaimer: “All illustrations, designs and specifications are based on concept vehicle envisioned by fans. This vehicle does not exist. See an actual production vehicle at your Nissan Dealer.”
So, the images have been created by Nissan from the vivid imaginations of their loyal fans, which suggests we’re not going to see them in the flesh any time soon – boo!
First up, there’s the Nissan GT-R Nismo/Nissan Maxima sedan – yes you did just read that right. And, at first glance if you’re really imaginative, it looks a bit like a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo XI – right?
Second is the 370Z Nismo/Sentra sedan combination, which is particularly brilliant. The sportier look and beefier dimensions make this mashup one that we’d love to see go into production.
But while these images are really just Nissan looking to boost their image and attract some social media attention, they do leave us wondering, what if?
Check out the Nissan USA Facebook page for more mashup pics, including a Juke NISMO/Nissan Xterra ‘hybrid’ – proof that sometimes it’s best to just leave things alone.
Which one’s your personal favourite and have you got any suggestions for future mashups? We’d love to know…
