Nissan Superbowl Ad Unveils Radical New Racer
During this year’s Super Bowl, Nissan revealed their new Le Mans challenger for the first time – the GT-R LM Nismo prototype. JDM Racing look at what all the fuss is about…
Super Bowl Sunday is a particularly lucrative time of year for advertisers and seemingly anything goes. But this year it was Nissan that returned to the fray on a high with their first Super Bowl ad campaign since 1997. And the Japanese firm’s “With Dad” commercial not only struck a chord with American families but also showcased two of the company’s latest vehicles.
The minute-and-a-half ad not only revealed the GT-R LM Nismo, but also the new 2016 Nissan Maxima.
In a commercial that highlights the all-too-familiar struggle of modern families to balance work and family, Nissan ramped up the drama and produced a very powerful ad to mark their Super Bowl return.
Rather than try to explain the ad ourselves – which you can view at the end of this post – we’ll let Nissan’s senior vice president of sales, marketing and operations in the U.S. Fred Diaz explain:
“The spot depicts a journey that moms, dads and children face in trying to make family a priority while striving to balance work demands. Like many women and men in America, our dad cherishes the time he spends with his family, but the requirements of his job continually call him away, but as we see, both parents share equally in the courage, hard work and sacrifice required to keep the family strong as they raise their son”.
If the sentiment of the ad isn’t touching enough, Nissan will also donate up to $1 million to two organisations that help people build better lives for themselves and their families – Habitat for Humanity and Wounded Warrior Project.
The GT-R LM Nismo is a highly innovative 1,250-horsepower, front-engined, front-wheel-drive hybrid, 3-litre V6 twin-turbo beast with a ‘kinetic energy recovery system’, which will compete in the highest category in world sports car racing: the LM P1 class of the FIA World Endurance Championship.
Details on the upcoming Nissan Maxima, which appears briefly towards the end of the ad, will be announced in the near future.
