Paul Walker’s Supra Fetches $185k
If you’d have dropped $185,000 recently at an Indianapolis auction, you could have driven off in Paul Walker’s legendary orange Toyota Supra…
Love them or hate them, the Fast and the Furious movies brought import cars into the mainstream and popularised them among a mass audience. But while the deluge of high-octane action had cinema audiences rooted to their seats, it’s the movies’ characters who have been instrumental to their success.
And no other character had as big an impact as Brian O’Connor, played by the late Paul Walker. He was perhaps best known for the customised orange Toyota Supra that he drove and now one of the stunt cars has gone under the hammer in Indianapolis selling for $185,000.
This particular stunt car featured on numerous occasions, including the final drag race with Dom’s Dodge Charger. But while it looks the part, you may be disappointed when you find out what’s under the bonnet – a 220-horsepower, 3.0-litre inline six, with a five-speed manual transmission.
However, its full body kit, ridiculous rear spoiler and customised orange paint job are what the new owner has paid for. Oh and to own a piece of movie history.
There’s also a couple of Holley Performance nitrous oxide bottles in the back, but unfortunately they’re not hooked up A roll cage completes the internal setup.
The auction was expected to draw a lot of attention and the estimated sale price was $150,000 – $200,000, so the final value was literally, right on the money.
Since his tragic death back in 2013, cars connected with Walker have been increasingly coming up for sale. For example, his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo was sold by Barrett-Jackson in 2014 and the German owner of his iconic GT-R put his car up for sale for a huge $1.37 million following Walker’s death.
