US to get special edition Series.Yellow BRZ for 2017
Subaru will produce a limited run of 500 special edition BRZs for the US market next year. They’ll be yellow, very yellow, but don’t turn your nose up just yet…
The 2017 Subaru BRZ Series.Yellow (that random fullstop is deliberate by the way) is, well, yellow, first and foremost. But don’t let that put you off immediately as it’s got more than just special paint.
The Series.Yellow builds upon the standard 2017 model year’s modest power boost and more refined cabin with a series of top-shelf performance upgrades. But it’s only going to be sold in America.
Despite the oddly-punctuated and, let’s face it, not very subtle name, the Subaru BRZ Series.Yellow will be limited to just 500 units. Anyone fortunate enough to secure one will get a car with a yellow paintjob (it’s the only colour available), Brembo brakes, Sachs dampers, black 17-inch wheels, as well as a limited trim.
Utilising the new springs, thicker rear anti-roll bar and sturdier suspension mounts found on the standard 2017 BRZ, the Series.Yellow will only come in six-speed manual, and will boast the new 205-hp 2.0-litre boxer four. However, it will get a slightly shorter final-drive ratio, which will boost acceleration.
On the inside, the Series.Yellow features bolstered leather-and-Alcantara sports seats, and a lot of additional stitching on the door panels, steering wheel, dash, floor mats, and gearstick – all of which are, of course, yellow. There’s also a 6.2-inch touchscreen display with rearview camera; dual-zone climate control; keyless entry and start; and door courtesy lights.
No specific release date or prices have been announced yet, but we can expect the Series.Yellow to go on sale in the US some time in 2017.
